花粉とネトルと王子様

I'm pleased with recent warm weather.
And the present amounts of cedar pollen became less than before.
But I heard that cypress pollen will be dispersed into the air after this.
The battle against pollen isn't over yet.

I have drunk nettle tea as one of anti-pollen measures for about two years.
A nettle is a kind of herb and is known as "Irakusa" in Japan.
When I hear the name of nettle, I remember one fairy tale.

Once upon a time, there were eleven princes and one princess in one kingdom.
All of princes were enchanted by a malicious witch, and they were changed into eleven swans.
A princess continued to knit eleven sweaters of nettle to disenchant her brothers.
Therefore, people in the kingdom believed that she was a witch.
And they decided to burn her at the stake.
But she couldn't explain her situation, because she was warned not to speak until the sweaters would knit up.
So, she continued to knit until just before her punishment.
At the moment, eleven swans flew to her, and she threw the eleven sweaters toward swans.
After that, all of the swans turned into eleven princes.
But the eleventh prince's one arm remained a wing.
Because the eleventh sweater's one sleeve was unfinished.

ネトルはハーブの一種で、花粉症に効果があることで有名になりました。
私も飲んでいますが、とぉっても薬草臭くてネトル単独では飲めず、他のハーブとブレンドして飲んでいます。
肝心の効果ですが、私の場合はあるようです。
（他にもいろんな薬を飲まされているので、ネトル単独の効果かどうかはわかりません）
人によっては下手な花粉症の薬を飲むより効果がでることもあるようなので、薬草臭いにチャレンジしてみたい方はお試しあれ。

ハーブとしては栄養豊富で体質改善にも良いネトルですが、毒のある棘があります。
（乾燥させると棘はとれるので、乾燥ハーブを使用する分には問題ありません）
この棘に刺さるととても痛いことから、日本では刺草（イラクサ）、痛痛草（イタイタグサ）の別名があります。

途中紹介した童話は 『野の白鳥』 『白鳥の王子』 等の題名で有名なお話です。
11羽の白鳥に変えられた王子達をもとの姿に戻すため、イラクサから糸を紡ぎ11枚のセーターを編んだお姫様のお話ですね。
毒のあるイラクサで糸を紡がなきゃいけなかったお姫様は、さぞかし大変だったろうとも思うのですが、このお話で一番納得がいかないのは、１１番目の王子様だけ片腕が白鳥のままになってしまったこと。
セーターが未完成であるにも関わらず、禁を破って全ての事情を話した報いだというなら、11番目の王子だけがその報いを受けるのはどうしてなんだろう、と何とも言えない読後感に襲われたのを覚えています。
ところがネットで改めて調べてみると、王子全員がもとの姿に戻り完璧なハッピーエンドというストーリーが大半のようです。
（王子の数も話によっては６人だったり、お姫様が作るのもベストだったり、冠だったり、シャツだったりとマチマチ。
私も 【セーター】 と書きはしたものの、記憶はとっても曖昧です）
とはいえ、やはり私の中の１１番目の王子様は、いまだ片腕・片翼の姿のまま、ハッピーエンドの輪から取りこぼされ、悲しげに一人佇んでいるのです。
